Skin tightening at Create Anew Skin Studio in Scottsdale uses the ExoSkin device, which combines cryotherapy, electrical muscle stimulation, and controlled heat in a single 30 to 60 minute session. Most clients complete a series of 4 to 8 sessions over 8 to 12 weeks to see gradual firming on the face, arms, stomach, or legs. Results vary by client.

What skin tightening is, and what it is not.

Skin tightening is the process of stimulating your skin to firm itself from the inside out. It is not a face-lift. It is not surgery. It is not a one-and-done. What it does is use heat and cooling to encourage your skin to build new collagen, which over time can soften the look of loose or crepey areas.

I am not going to oversell this. If your skin is severely loose, the kind of loose that hangs and folds, a non-invasive session is unlikely to be enough on its own. For the much larger group of clients who have mild to moderate looseness, the kind that bothers you in the mirror but is not extreme, this is one of the safest and most effective non-surgical options available. Research published in plastic and reconstructive surgery journals has consistently shown that combination cryolipolysis and radiofrequency treatments can produce visible firming in the right candidates over a series of sessions.

Areas we treat.

The ExoSkin device works across multiple body areas with the same Cryo, EMS, and Heat sequence. Common requests include:

Face

Cheek, jawline, brow, and under-chin areas. Controlled heat builds collagen. Gradual firming across a series.

Arms

Upper-arm laxity after weight loss, pregnancy, or aging. Back-of-arm focus. Tone and firmness build session by session.

Stomach

Tone, smoothness, and contour. Most-requested area. Often paired with skin tightening for the full result.

Legs

Inner thigh and back-of-leg. Crepey texture and shape together. Often part of a full lower-body plan.

How sessions work.

Each session is 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area. You arrive, change into something comfortable, and lie down on the treatment table. The ExoSkin device handles the work. The operator (me, in most cases) guides the equipment over the area, alternating Cryo, EMS, and Heat phases.

There is no anesthesia. No downtime. No needles. Most clients feel a combination of cool, warm, and a strong tingling muscle sensation during the EMS phase. You walk out, drink water, and go on with your day.

What results look like.

I am going to be honest with you because that is how we do things here. Results from skin tightening are gradual. You will not walk out of session one looking different. Most clients start noticing subtle changes by session 3 or 4. The area looks slightly more lifted, slightly smoother. By session 6 to 8, the change is usually visible in photos.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, non-invasive body contouring procedures exceeded 200,000 cases in the United States, reflecting patient preference for outcomes that do not require surgery, anesthesia, or recovery time. The reason these treatments work in a series and not a single visit is that collagen production is a slow biological process. Your body needs time to respond to the stimulus.

How many sessions, how often.

Most clients run 4 to 8 sessions, spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart. We map this during your consultation based on:

  • The area you are treating
  • Your starting point — how loose, how much surface area
  • Your goal — subtle firming vs. visible change
  • Your timeline — do you have an event in 12 weeks, or are we building over a year

After the initial series, many clients maintain with one session every 4 to 8 weeks. We offer a membership option that makes maintenance more affordable.

Who this is a good fit for.

Good fit if:
  • Your loose skin is mild to moderate, not severe or hanging
  • You are willing to commit to a series, not a single session
  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not have an active skin infection or recent injury in the treatment area
  • You understand results vary and build gradually
Not a good fit if:
  • Your loose skin is severe and you want a single dramatic change
  • You are looking for weight loss — this is not what we do
  • You have medical conditions that affect circulation, sensation, or healing (talk to your doctor first)

Frequently asked questions.

How long until I see results?+
Most clients see subtle changes by session 3 or 4. Visible firming usually shows by session 6 to 8. Photos at 3 months post-series often show the most noticeable difference because collagen continues to build for weeks after the last session.
Is skin tightening permanent?+
No treatment is permanent because your skin keeps aging. Results from a full series typically hold for 12 to 18 months with maintenance sessions every 4 to 8 weeks. Without maintenance, results soften gradually.
Does it hurt?+
No, but it is not a passive experience. You will feel cool, warm, and strong muscle contractions from the EMS portion. Most clients describe it as an interesting workout for an area you have never worked out before. Nobody has ever asked us to stop because of pain.
Can I do skin tightening if I am still losing weight?+
We typically recommend waiting until you are within 10 to 15 pounds of your goal weight, because skin responds to the body shape underneath it. If you are still in active weight loss, skin tightening may not hold its results.
Can I combine skin tightening with body sculpting?+
Yes. Many clients treat both. For example, body sculpting on the stomach for shape, plus skin tightening on the surface for texture. We will build a plan during your free consultation.
